DOGGIES TO STRUT THE CATWALK FOR A SECOND TIME AT GRADY HIGH SCHOOL
Atlanta’s Grady High School and its acclaimed fashion division, UrbanCouture, are teaming up with Piedmont Bark again to launch a pet fashion fundraiser appropriately tagged “Doggies on the Catwalk.” Proceeds from the show will benefit Pets Are Loving Support, PALS, an Atlanta-based Non Profit Organization that is dedicated to keeping pets and owners together to share the healing power of love and companionship. PALS provides pet-care including free food and basic veterinary care, and support to the companion pets of the critically ill, elderly and disabled Atlantans.
In an effort to foster design and innovation, Doggies on the Catwalk is not only a fundraiser for PALS but a designer platform for Grady Senior Designers. UrbanCourture’s objective is to nurture the development of new ideas and innovation in the discipline of design and will unleash cutting-edge fashions for both doggie and their model from 12 Senior Designers. The idea is to provide a high-profile environment in which Grady Seniors can showcase their designs while at the same time benefiting the community by supporting PALS.
This fur flying event will be “bark of the town” given that beautiful Atlantans will be sporting the custom designed clothes on the runway accompanied by their favorite pets. Models will include famous television and radio broadcast celebrities, socialites, movers and shakers such as Corina Allen, Mara Davis, Holly Firfer, Tonya Ellerby, Liz Lapidus, Jason MacDonald, Jennifer Mayerle, Rob Marciano, Monica Pearson, Jenn Ripley and Elizabeth Schulte Roth. In addition to these impressive names, the stage will be “strutted” by over a dozen cute canines!
The Doggies on the Catwalk Show will be held at the Grady High School Gymnasium Friday, January 16, 2009.
The inspiration for the tail-wagging idea came from Vincent Martinez, UrbanCouture founder and Fashion Teacher who holds The 2007 Teacher of the Year designation for Grady High School.
The “Doggies on the Catwalk” pre-sale tickets will be available at the kick-off party held at Tootsies at The Shops Around Lenox on Tuesday, December 9th from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. All other tickets will go on sale December 15th in the Grady High School Courtyard at 929 Charles Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30309. Ticket prices are $25.00 and $15 for children under 12, with all profits going to Pets Are Loving Support (PALS).
