PALS Calendar

Dear Supporters of PALS,

As the new year begins, we want to say thank you for all your generosity and support. 2011 had its challenges, but with your help we saw it through.

We provided basic care for 500 + pet companions which included spray/neuter services, food, vaccinations, heart worm medications and flea preventative.

On a personal note, this past summer I had to say goodbye to my best friend Murphy. I was fortunate to have had him come into and share his life with me for almost 13 years. Murphy developed a nasal carcinoma which is a form of cancer. While radiation and chemo gave him an extra year of good quality of live, he finally circumed to the illness. I learned a lot from him not only during our life together but as well in the end.

Animals are true existentialists. They live in the moment and never worry about the day they will die or what tomorrow will bring, instead they live every day to the fullest. We should take a lesson from them.

To that end, we have plans to create a Memorial Page on our website this month. There may be no better way to remember a loved one than by making a memorial or tribute gift to help animals in need.

So thank you for your support and I hope you do not have to work like a dog in 2012, but you should definitely live like one!

All My Best,
Kevin Bryant, Executive Director

Happy endings, New beginnings…

This is a powerful story and a special one all the way around. My dear friend, Kevin Bryant, recently adopted Arrow, a playful, lively and loving pitbull-mix puppy. Their bond would make you think they’ve always been together.

Kevin, who is the Executive Director of Pets Are Loving Support, PALS, called me one evening, about three weeks ago, to share exciting news: he was trying to adopt a dog. A big step for Kevin since he had lost his best friend of almost thirteen years, Murphy, just five months prior. “It was love at first sight” said Kevin [about Arrow] when he went to visit him at Barking Hound Village.

Arrow is a kinda famous, sadly. The abuse Arrow endured was unfathomable and made headlines across the nation. For roughly six weeks Arrow was nursed back to good health and given the circumstances in which he was found, it was critical that he go to a good home. I can’t imagine a better match than Arrow and Kevin Bryant. You’ll see what I mean when you watch the video. Arrow has become Kevin’s shadow. The bond between them is evident. And what is crystal clear is that Arrow [thanks to Kevin & the team of supporters that nursed Arrow's recovery] is a very happy dog!
